Mark Maynard

Executive Director

Mark Maynard is committed to helping BIPOC and at-risk youth become productive members of society. Mark is a BIPOC man proudly serving the BIPOC community with grace. He is unflinching in his desire to make positive change. He works tirelessly in servitude to others.

Mark uses the backdrop of sport to grab the attention of youth members of the community. He started training and coaching kids basketball at a grass roots level for kids aged 5-18 approximately 30 years ago. He mentored kids and used basketball as a catalyst to earn their respect and trust while working as a Youth Outreach worker for the City of Vaughan. He used basketball as a tool to connect with at-risk and marginalized youth to be able to present the opportunity for BIPOC youth to make wise life choices.

Having taught at a grass roots level as well as a highly competitive level with kids gives him a unique perspective and helps him offer context and perspective to the kids he helps. Recognizing that no player arrives as a finished product allows him to tailor training and coaching to bring the most out of individuals on and off the court.

Mark has lived and worked in both Canada and the United States. His North American work experience as a Project Manager for Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) has given him a dynamic sensibility of commerce in international terms and has formed his understanding of, and desire to be a part of the global market.

Mark seamlessly transitioned his skillset from his work as a Project Manager in the financial sector to a Talent Manager in the music industry. He traveled with his clients for over 10 years for radio, television, live shows, and conferences which has afforded him countless opportunities to network with key individuals across several industries. He has established important relationships with celebrities, athletes, industry insiders and executives.

In his new role as Executive Director for Camda Sports Foundation Canada Mark is now leaning on all the skills he has acquired from his work experience in differing careers. Mark’s passion to help his community and the broader community at large drives him. His desire to improve the lives of young people is infectious. Camda has moved into its permanent home at Durham Sportsplex in Oshawa. With a new home comes the opportunity to create new opportunities to
affect change. The future looks very promising for Camda.
