Leisa Washington

A Canadian citizen born to Jamaican parents, Leisa Washington spent the first twenty years of her life in a Toronto Community Housing Complex. Her early years built a passion for not only giving back to her own community, but also to constantly work to build hope and resiliency in youth now living in other at-risk neighbourhoods. Leisa has managed to transform her benevolent nature into founding Camda Sports Foundation Canada. Leisa is very passionate about the principal mandates of Camda – Sports, Education, and Art & Music.

  • First Female WNBA / NBA Agent

    Leisa Washington is the first female WNBA (Women’s National Basketball Association) agent in Canada, and on January 23, 2014, she also became an NBA agent. These accomplishments are significant milestones in the ‘legacy-in-progress’ of a woman who understands the importance of building and nurturing relationships, as well as fostering opportunities and growth for those who need it.

    NABFEME Honouree

    Leisa was honoured by NABFEME (National Association of Black Female Executives in Media & Entertainment). The Toronto chapter of NABFEME hosted an event to honour her accomplishment as Canada’s first female WNBA Agent. The event, She’s Got Game, featured a sit-down interview with Leisa about her inspirations, motivations, challenges and successes. During the interview, Leisa shed light on some of the projects she has in store including the writing of her first memoir, which is currently in progress.

  • Currently, Leisa puts her talents and skills to work as the Manager, Member Services at the state-of-the-art Abilities Centre in Whitby, Ontario. Managing the customer service and sales department, Leisa works with the Abilities Centre team to enrich the quality of life for individuals of all ages and abilities through an inclusive and integrated environment.

    Leisa holds a Diploma in Business Management from Toronto School of Business. Her professional experiences include business negotiations, program development, grant writing and strategic planning. She has been recognized for her work in the community by the Toronto Raptors Foundation and Pathways to Education. Her most cherished accomplishments are her two children – Dakota and Cameron. Dakota, the eldest of the two, is a starting point guard on the Wisconsin Badgers women’s basketball team, and Cameron is a standout guard for Notre Dame Secondary School in Ajax, Ontario.
